The challenge

According to the World Economic Forum's Global Gender Gap Report 2024 even today, the gender gap across the world is widening. They project that at the current rate of progress, it will take 134 years to achieve full gender parity worldwide, extending the previous estimate of 131 years. This is measured against four criteria: educational attainment, healthcare and survival, economic participation and opportunity and political empowerment. To drill economic participation down into our own sector, according to the latest C+D Salary Survey in 2022, male, non-manager pharmacists, earned a clear £4k more than their female counterparts.

And, whilst women constitute the significant majority of the pharmacy workforce (62% Women in Leadership the Company Chemists Association Dec 2022), few are in senior leadership roles. Meanwhile over on LinkedIn, their research suggests that men tend to have a stronger, more extensive professional network - which is in turn associated with the increased probability of career progression.

Frankly, this bothers us at RxBridge, so we decided to do something about it - and thus the "RxWomen" community was conceived. Our goal is to bring women in the sector together through in-person networking and online interactions, fostering a community where we can support, mentor, and celebrate each other.

We need your help to make this happen! We're counting on you to spread the word and help us build a supportive environment where we can equip each other with the tools to close the gender gap—one pharmacy at a time.
